Calyx is a boutique forest consulting business founded and led by Dr. Michelle Freeman. It specialises in ecologically sustainable forest policy, planning, and management that recognises community needs and aspirations.

Michelle is a Registered Forestry Professional with a double degree in Science and Forestry. She has broad expertise that encompasses operational forestry, fire ecology, threatened species management and vegetation dynamics. Coupled with experience in forest policy, regulation and organisational governance, Michelle is uniquely placed to provide well-rounded advice that supports clients in navigating complex environmental challenges and understanding the costs and benefits of forest management options.

With a passion for integrating conservation, sustainable use and resilience-building through strengthening the connection between people and nature, Michelle is committed to achieving enduring environmental stewardship outcomes.
